During the last two weeks or so, Channel Island residents have been subjected to an utterly unprecedented campaign of spin, propaganda and lies – the objective of which has been to rubbish the historic child abuse investigation.
Predictably, perhaps – such is the stupidity and ineptitude of the Jersey oligarchy - so extreme, incredible, excessive and obviously dishonest has been the propaganda – that it’s actually had the opposite affect to that which it was intended to achieve.
Far from the average islander now believing that there was little, if any, truth to the accounts of abuse by over a hundred survivors, instead, people are having their suspicions raised.
All of what passes for the traditional news media in Jersey – and the supposed journalist who work within it – have passively parroted the Jersey oligarchy spin.
True, some of them sought comment in response from Lenny – but why on Earth should he want to bother responding to the Jersey media – when we all know full-well he wouldn’t be given a fair reply.
And – more significantly - why should Lenny bother responding in such pipsqueak non-entities as the traditional Jersey news outlets – when he can respond with a guest posting on this blog instead!
And achieve vastly more readers!

Hi, I think all of us, who care, should use our facebook accounts to spread the word around the world to ensure as many people as possible are aware of Stuarts Blog. Perhaps we should have a Stuart day on Facebook, all of us posting a header to alert everyone to his quest for Justice.
Perhaps someone could come up with an appropriate header that we could all use.
Well - I am so pleased Lenny has chosen to use your blog to respond to the disgraceful media outpouring against him over the last week or so.
As you so rightly say, had he used what we are subjected to from the 'accredited' media, how much of the truth would we have been privy to? Not a lot I fear.
How telling that Mr Gradwell has made all these statements JUST before he left the Island, not leaving him open to any further questioning from other sources who may have been more pressing.
How telling that all this has been brought about JUST before more statements on whether any more cases will be brought to trial (I suspect the answer will be no).
This has so obviously been a huge damage limitation exercise, which has failed, and had the opposite effect to what it set out to achieve. People will believe what they want to believe, but to those doubters, read very carefully between the lines and the time frames and a picture emerges.
More power to you Stuart and Lenny. A shame Mr Power cannot talk, but the time WILL come.
It will be interesting to see how - as last time with the Harper email - the reportage is edited in the JEP.
Do please please ask Lenny what the nature of those ACPO reports were (as far as they related to operational matters rather than sub judice matters)

The way this island is run, in fact the whole absurdity of life here on Earth, almost had me questioning how any of this can be real, this morning.
There's a technique called Lucid Dreaming where you train yourself to realise when something can't possibly be right in your dreams, you become aware that you're dreaming, then you can apparently learn to control the way the dream goes. So far I've managed to spot that I'm dreaming sometimes, but I still haven't managed full control over it. The lovely ladies simply don't appear!
This morning I was thinking about the Jersey establishment and how utterly ridiculous this all is. I had a brief moment where I wondered if I was going to wake up, having realised how it can't possibly be real! Am I dreaming? Someone pinch me, please :)
I look forward to hearing the Harper version of events - the truth - instead of the Gradwell bullshot smears. No wonder Lenny doesn't trust the Jersey authorities. When you think of the corruption he fought against, the threats and intimidation he had to deal with, it's no wonder he choose an open media strategy to get as much as possible in the public domain before anyone could silence him.

Having watch Grabwell's interview last night in which he completely trashes Mr Harper, I cannot but wonder why, if the wheels had indeed come off the investigation, was this not noticed by the ACPO officers who were drafted in to review the investigation.
The Rag has stopped taking comments on the on-line story but I did notice that Grabwell had a very staunch supporter in a poster who calls himself ZBD.
ZBD, who also slates Mr Harper's methods, invites posters to 'do their detective work' when he is asked to reveal who he is and what rank he achieved.
Work done.

It seems to me that Lenny has got good grounds for suing the JEP for certain erronious remarks made by Diane Simon. At the very least, he ought to force those untrue statements to be rectified. By the professional conduct code the JEP is under, they have to ensure that what they allow trheir reporters to say is actually true!

Re Facebook campaign. There's already a Facebook group called 'Free Stuart Syvret!' but it looks like it's been trolled recently and needs cleaning up.
You could contact the admin to get the troll comments removed and use that to spread the word.

Òne reason why this blog is so popular is because people are genuinely interested in the legal battle surrounding your alleged breach of the data protection law. The longer this case continues the greater your support base will grow. It affects all of us ... freedom of information, public interest, media manipulation, Big Brother and all that.

One of the most telling things of this anti Harper campaign by our local media is the total silence of the Jersey Care Leavers Association.
In the interest of fairness and balance, you would like to believe, the "accredited" press would, at the very least, ask them for a statement!
The most important people in all of this are the abuse victims, and to the best of my knowledge, not one of our "journalists" have contacted them.
How do the JCLA feel about this onslaught from the local media? What has this done to/for their sense of justice on this island?

During my time in the Police, all cases involving sexual abuse against children and many incidents involving physical abuse, used to be referred to the A.G. In these type of offences, only he, or one of his subordiantes, would give the go ahead, if there was to be a prosecution. From the leaked report it is evident that Mr. Harper - an experienced detective - believed there was sufficient evidence to warrant a charge. Presumably there was evidence from a victim or victims that could be corroborated and maybe the suspects made some admissions. Whilst in Scotland, where Mr. Harper served for much of his long career, they frequently relied on evidence of similar fact(following the stated case of Morov), I recall the Law Officers in Jersey were very reluctant to do this. Surley one way of resolving this arguement would be to refer the evidence to the C.P.S. or the A.G. for England and Wales.

As far as I am aware Sgt Morgan left the force entirely without blemish and without grudges. I imagine that he had little, if any dealings with Mr Harper and almost certainly none with Grubwell.

It would not take Sherlock Holmes to put this whole sordid mess together and realise that Pindown was a nationwide scandal rather than a few local incidents, which is the way it has been treated (up goes the carpet, brush the dirt under)Jersey, Wales, Liverpool, Staffordshire, Essex, these Pindown children's "homes" (hellholes) were all over the place.

Combined with your high blog ranking in the UK, you, VFC, Lenny, and Donchais are accomplishing more to get the word out than the Oli rag, Warcup, local TV, Jon Haworth, PJ and Grabwell ever could do to silence you.
Survivors should keep faith that the full story will come out because there are capable real life heroes working tirelessly on their behalf.

I know you were accused of trying to shaft Jersey internationally but this Gradwell interview's doing a pretty good job - it's embarrassing. The way he tells it, if Lenny is a bad cop so are a few others!

Why? At the very best all the test can show is that they came from a particular 10 year period. Given the whole range of possibilities of the origin of such teeth what does that fact even give us?
Testing the teeth can neither prove nor disprove murder. Without other evidence it serves no purpose at all to test them.
As a HDLG survivor I have been infuriated at the rubbish coming out this past week, now I look forward to lenny putting the record straight.

The person who comments above, and casts scorn on radionuclide testing of the teeth, plainly hasn't done their research.
In a number of blog entries - and a greater number of comments - I have addressed the fundamental - and inescapable - importance of radionuclide testing those teeth.
The Jersey establishment - and it's media - have repeatedly cast doubts upon the age of those 70-odd children's teeth - many of which did not show the expected signs of wear, and/or could not have come out naturally.
So the existence of all these teeth remains a deeply troubling mystery.
No credible explanation for their existence has ever been proffered.
The Jersey oligarchy spin has been that the teeth are very old - Victorian - or even many hundreds of years - or even thousands of years older.
That could even be correct.
However - many people - survivors amongst them - fear that the teeth are much younger - and came from the mouths of children who were living in the 1950's and 1960's.
The radionuclide tests I have described several times previously - and which the commenter must accept the validity of, given they concede that the tests might narrow the living era of the children down to a ten year period - would settle that argument.
Unambiguously - one way or another - testing the matrix of the teeth for internal contamination with man-made radionuclides - of the type that were only spread around the world in the age of nuclear weapons testing - would show whether the children were living pre-1945 - or post-1945.
Indeed, a more narrow time-frame could be identified IF the teeth were found to contain significant amounts of elements such as Strontium 90 and anthropogenic quantities of Carbon 14.
This would date the teeth as having come from children who were living post 1950 - possibly post-1953 - as it was from that period there was a massive increase in atmospheric nuclear weapons testing as "the Cold War" escalated.
The commenter is quite right to state that even if these man-made radionuclides were found in the internal matrix of the teeth - it wouldn't - of itself - prove foul play.
That's absolutely correct.
But what such a testing result would do would be to make it clear that the human dental remains of these children came from children who were alive - within living memory.
A fundamentally important finding - which would place a rather different perspective on the question of just what happened at HDGL in the post-war years.
Of course - testing all the teeth for internal radionuclide contamination could prove that the teeth are, in fact, far older.
So why the immense reluctance to carry out the tests?
Why the wish to avoid settling that question?

Now, consider the logic of that - if Harper was handling things badly and the team was as good as Gradwell says, wouldn't the team have spoken out and complained?

Apologies for forgetting to congratulate on the well deserved recognition your blog has received!
Blogs are more powerful than many folks understand - this (from the US) may be of interest to many of you:

The Dave Morgan comments are not questioning his integrity or otherwise as a police officer. Only those in the know would have a clue about that.
It is how he has jumped on the anti-Harper bandwagon while leaning on his many years of experience in the police to give himself the air of being an 'expert' on the matter.
Strangely though, only 12 months earlier he did not question Harper's professionalism or qualifications, did not query the way he worked with the press, did not comment on what information was being passed out. He did not claim that it was unusual for a man in Harper's position to be in charge of the operation. In fact, Morgan appeared to be very much on Mr Harper's side judging by his comments.
We can all be retrospective 'experts' and it is just irritating that another retired policeman has joined the baying masses, particularly when his 'expert' views were considerably different before the PR machine rolled into town to attack Mr Harper.
Dave Morgan hedging his bets that if it all goes pearshaped he can fall on the winning side. A bit like most of them I would say fence sitting with no balls for the battle.
Once and only ONCE!!! Will you people of Jersey get an opportunity to reshape your idle and should you not take this chance then you send all you have believed in down the pan along with world respect, honour, Integrity and morality.

I have watched the clip - and it seems moving and extremely powerful.
I recognise the feelings, anger and means of expression of the survivors in the film; I know so many people with similar experiences in Jersey.
However - I try to keep this blog reasonably family friendly - and the film clip does contain a great deal of - understandable - very strong language.

There are other nuclides which can be tested for Plutonium, for example.
My understanding is that the key isotope used to identify the age or remains as being from the cold war era is Carbon 14 - in anthropogenic quantities, because of the scale of atmospheric weapons testing which took place.

The nameless author contradicts him/herself in the space of a few words. How can there be:
"more than enough evidence on this blog AND [my capitals] a stark lack of balanced reporting"?
They are totally contradictory.
Without being able to check facts and documentation there can be no fair trial - and the word "trial" is used in its widest sense.
Imagine if you will what would have happened if, in the course of my profesional career, I had told a patient that he/she was dying o cancer without providing facts to back that up?
Imagine what would happen if a policeman came banging on your door demanding you immediate surrender to arrest. Ask Stuart Syvret what it is like: it happened to him.
"What evidence do you have?" would be your immediate protest.
Without proof anyone can say anything they wish to. But people should remember: there are laws against libel and slander.
But I return to my original contention: if we are seeking TRUTH and JUSTICE we must also be FAIR.
This starts with publishing only provable statements and assertions.
It applies here, on this blog, as much as it does to the editorial policy of the "Jersey Evening Post".
The latter is purely a propaganda tool for government - just as it was during the Boche occupation. It prints what the Council of Ministers' spin doctors tell it to print.

Having a pen name is no different to remaining anyonymous. The only difference being that that you need to log in to leave your comment.
That has been explained to you before, and it is an incredibly easy point to understand, so why you keep dragging it up as some kind of evidence of lack of integrity I do not know.
As was also said before, when you're making comments of that nature using your real name, then, and only then, will you have a valid point.

As I said, the author chose to - guess what - remain anonymous.

Have you seen the topical "joke" by Al Thomas in todays Rag?.
Ok,maybe there were no murders at HdlG-that has yet to be proved either way-but it has been proved that abuse did occur there and the use of the JEP to ridicule part of the investigation into that terrible place is cheap,unhelpful and ever so slightly fishy.Why is the reporting so bloody one sided?.
Perhaps im just touchy on this subject and didnt quite understand his cartoon? or was his intention merely to illustrate the JEPs superiority to the "English press" in some unsubtle journalistic p*****g contest?.....good job Al,real good job!.
I doubt the JEP will apologise when they realise how offensive survivors of abuse find this "humour" but lets be honest-the Jersey media have forgotten about them,employing a "least said soonest mended" strategy that isnt quite working!..

Having a profile on here with a pseudoname is utterly worthless as a form of identity.
Until the day you provide your full name you will remain equally as anonymous as those you berate for choosing to be anonymous. That's the simple fact of the matter, so bear it in mind.
