Dramatic investigative reporting from an independent journalist:
All the more remarkable, in contrast with the deafening silence from Jersey's mainstream media - including the BBC.

Thanks for posting this Stuart.

All we want is a proper functioning democracy not a feudal occult.

The Jersey Child Abuse Investigation has blown the lid off this place.

The States Chamber must now step forward and play their part. Starting with a big no in the face of PB and his renegade actions.

I will not stop until the Abuse Victims get some proper justice and closure.

No doubt the BBC will keep this investigative journalism out the reach of the mainstream. Thank god for blogs.

Well done Rico
Fantastic work and proof about what we knew all along-cover ups.
Unfortunatly i am not convinced anything will happen in the Island despite this. They have got away with this sort of thing for decades aided by non reporting or inaccurate reporting by local media.Do you have any plans to make this evidence known to any authorities in the UK or any mainstream UK media. We will only see change and prosecutions from pressure from outside the island,in my opinion.
Great work and thank you

Stuart.

Rico has nailed this and the competence, or otherwise, of Commissioner Pitchers should now be brought into question.

Did the prosecution, in the Wateridge/Donnelly case, or Commissioner Pitchers question Matt Tapp's Report in any way at all?

How is this stuff able to go/carry on?

Stuart,

I know this is a little off topic given the importance of Ricos posting, but thought it might be worth following, given the Wiltshire Police are involved

I've received a comment that uses an insulting phrase to refer to a particular individual.

Could I suggest that the gratuitous insults are reigned-in?

Thanks

Ourchap Pitchers is the Law Society of Jerseys' favourite go to 'Judge' when they need a result from an 'independent source'

anyone appearing before him on statutory charges can easily expose him by asking one simple question;

"are you operating under your oath of office at this time"

then watch him splutter

Jon, you pitiable fool.

Look, I'll be you therapist, OK; let us acknowledge that that's what you use the web for.

Tell me, why do you hate childhood so much?

Did you never recover from the trauma of being given the middle name Sharrock?

Left you scarred, did it?

Did one of the big boys hit you with a physics book, thus causing your life-long inability to understand the concept of fact-based rational thought? Of evidence?

Did they freeze you out of their clubs - unless you cleaned their rugby boots, and wrote out "black is white" 300 times a day?

Were some girls nasty to you? Is that where your fear and anger towards women comes from?

The first step on the path to recovery is to face the fact you have a problem.

Come on Jon Sharrock Haworth - you can trust me.

I've already given you the very honest and genuinely helpful advice that you backed the wrong horse - and are on the losing side - the wrong side. You see, those are words of greater benefit to you than anything said to you by those whose approval you craved.

Confront your demons, Jon.

A good place to start will be developing a capacity to assimilate and accept evidenced facts.

Once you've done that, your self-debilitating addiction to delusions will be defeatable.

(Laying off the Stella, too, will help.)

I expect to see progress during your next therapeutic session.

Stuart.

Stuart, you said to lay off the gratuitous insults - then you referred to "Jon, the pitiable fool".

Yes - that's right. Jon, as the formerly anonymous most rabid and abusive troll on the Internet in Jersey, gets all he deserves.

And the phrase "pitiable fool" is pretty tame - not in the same league as that which I was referring to as gratuitous insults.

And - as will be seen when I do my obnoxia special - quoting lots of abuse from the archive - readers will be able to see that Jon does like to dish it out.

At the height of a political corruption trial, the prosecuting attorney attacked a witness. "Isn't it true," he bellowed, "that you accepted fifty thousand pounds to compromise this case?"

The witness stared out the window, as though he hadn't heard the question.

"Isn't it true that you accepted fifty thousand pounds to compromise this case?" the lawyer repeated.

The witness still did not respond.

Finally, the judge leaned over and said, "Sir, please answer the question."

"Oh," the startled witness said, "I thought he was talking to you."

"Deeply in it"; yes - that's an appropriately apposite way of putting it.

And yes.

More and more of the evidence is emerging.

Just like it was - inevitably - always going to.

As to when and where that evidence will become public - be patient.

It's going to happen.

Just apropos of 'things' generally - is it not remarkable - and is it not a sad and savage commentary upon Jersey society - that even as things have disintegrated, there is no-one - not one voice, from amongst the ranks of conservative, traditional Jersey - who is stepping up - and saying "enough of this madness" - "enough of the naked corruption"?

Not one 'wise head' - amongst the entire ranks of the Jersey establishment.

It's no wonder, really, that things came to this.

As much as I had my disagreements with him - none of this madness would have happened back in the day of former Bailiff, the late Peter Crill.

It is more than an error, mistake call it what you will.

£900,000 bills for UK police to investigate Jersey officers

Nearly £900,000 has been spent since 2008 on btinging UK police officers to Jersey to investigate alleged police misconduct, the Home Affairs Minister has revealed.

Responding to a written question in the States, Senator Ian Le Marquand that six inquiries in the past four years had cost a total of £894,394.

A large chunk of the money was spent on investigating former Police Chief Graham Power's handling of the historical child abuse inquiry.

It cost £572,532 to engage the Wiltshire Constabulary in 2008, who found that Mr. Power had failed to effectively manage the inquiry.

Secret dossiers

Operation Blast, which in 2009 looked into the creation of secret police dossiers on States Members, were also costly. Three police officers and a civil servant were given 'words of advice' as a result of the £301,088 investigation, which was also carried out by the Wiltshire Constabulary.

The most recent was a £17,084 criminal misconduct investigation by the Hampshire Constabulary in 2011 and 2012. The police involved may now face internal disciplinary action.

Words of advice
Other cases included an 'internal personnel matter' which led to a police officer receiving 'words of advice'.

The States of Jersey police paid £1,800 in travel costs for West Midlands police officers involved in the 2009/2010 investigation.

In 2009, they also paid for flights and accommodation for officers from Warwickshire Police to look into a raid on the home of former Senator Stuart ~Syvret.

The cost of that complaint which was found to be unsubstantiated, cost £1,200 to investigate.

Apologies if any errors.

Ex-Senator Stuart Syvret said...

Yes - another fascinating claim - made by the SOJP under David Warcup.

We're going to be seeing about that claim, too.

Would you say that previous Bailiffs were not aware of all the goings on cover ups etc whilst PB & his family were up to no good building the "empire".

That makes it sound like its my job.

I should explain I do this in my free time an hour here and an hour there. That is all it takes. I have produced more investigative work and research in a year than the Jersey Media have produced in the past 100years.

It shouldn't be like that but it is.

Dear Mr Syvret,

I notice the early blog entries have all been published but not mine. I hope you do not mind, but this again shows that the JEP are indeed trying to evade the truth.

The real question being why ?

I wrote.

who found that Mr Power had failed to effectively manage the inquiry.

Says the heading of the JEP article !

You forgot to mention ACPO were brought in by ex police chief Mr Power who gave the enquiry full marks, commenting that their suggestions had been carried out fully.

Also the person that suspended Mr Power also took out an injunction against the JEP to stop the JEP from telling the truth. Then after destroying hand written minutes, and not being the second man according to the Chief Minister, when actually he was, left Jersey under a cloud with a large golden handshake.

Mr Power retired without one charge being levied against him.

It is good that the JEP tries to keep the public informed, could you please also ask the Minister of home affairs, if he is bringing charges against Mr Gradwell for leaking confidential and incorrect information during an ongoing Jersey investigation, to a UK newspaper in order to tarnish his predecessors ?

This has recently happened in the UK against a serving police officer also working on a case.

There is a problem with looking at blogs lately they do exactly what you said. I am guessing you are using internet explorer in which case it is a problem with internet explorer, if it is happening with other browsers then blogspot have a bug. I expect it is internet explorer though as there are loads of bugs in that at the moment. Easiest thing is to open a new window and copy and paste the blog address into it from the one that didnt work. It is at its worst when you open a blog in a new tab in the existing window so hope that helps.

The power of the internet ! The JEP have installed my offering at number one no less, after it was published by you, maybe an error on their part or just caught out and had a re-think.

Lets hope the people elected in the assembly go forward and ask the questions that need answering as they are watched over by citizens media.

The public are far less gullible than given credit for and these days far better informed.

"We'll find out later what inspectors think of the standard of Children's Social Services in Jersey.

The Scottish Care Inspectorate has been examining our children's homes, specialist units, foster care and Greenfields secure accommodation.

The review was recommended in the 2008 Williamson report, sparked after a whistleblower raised serious concerns about child protection in the island.

The independent watchdog's report and findings are due to be published at lunchtime."

This is being released at the town hall sometime this morning.

Ex-Senator Stuart Syvret said...

That's going to be fascinating.

We'll look forward to seeing its consistency in comparison to the available evidence.

In particular - we must observe that the same spin-doctoring stunt as exhibited by Williamson and his paymasters is not employed - namely using the present tense - and stating that things - when inspected - appeared OK - all the while ignoring the systematic - and unaddressed gross and evidenced failures of the past.

"This report covers the inspection by the Scottish based, independent Care Inspectorate between January and May 2011 of Jersey's services for Looked After Children, who are those in foster care, adopted, or living in residential homes.

The inspection team who worked in the Island consisted of:

4 senior inspectors from the Care Inspectorate
2 youth ambassadors
the Chief Social Work Advisor to the Scottish Government
The States of Jersey, under the auspices of the Children's Policy Group, approached the Care Inspectorate to carry out the inspection.

10 key areas of the services provided for Looked After Children were evaluated during the inspection process, and as a result of the inspection, the Care Inspectorate has made 14 recommendations.

Of the ten areas evaluated:

2 were found to be good
3 were found to be average
5 were found to be weak"

The report is now on line

A choke outloud juxtaposition from the 'journalists' at BBC on their website.

Immediately under the 'Headline' (copy/paste) was this

Significant improvements need to be made to children's care services in Jersey, according to a new report.'

' Freemasons give out teddy bears'.
