Yes I find certain peoples' behaviour a tad disappointing too to put it very mildly - Law Officers mainly.
When it come to Child Protection issues (and those who have suffered it and survived but are still ignored) I could find some very strong words indeed.

I just listened to a programme on Radio 4 relating to the Abuse Survivors in Ireland. It was a most interesting programme and related how the Irish Government is dealing with historic child abuse.

At least in Ireland, I say at least the Irish Government DID apologise to the Abuse Survivors and even though it has taken years they did set up Redress Hearings for Abuse Survivors. These were indeed not run as efficiently as possible, however it did give the Abused the right to be heard and most were given compensation.

A few, quite rightly so, took their cases through the civil courts, indeed a very traumatic experience for the survivor, but one man would not accept the compensation offered at the end of the trial, he felt the most important thing to him was for a personal apology from the Irish Government and above all an apology from the Christian Brothers who had physically, mentally and sexually abused him over a period of years.

In most major cities in the UK the Irish Abuse suffers have had people to help them to take their complaints through the system.

Next week the Irish Government are discussing the extension of the Redress courts so that those who have failed to make complaint will be given a further period of time to register and have their grievances heard.

What a great pity the Jersey Government did not accept responsibility for the children who were placed in care and suffered at the hands of abusers.

What a great shame that the Government of Jersey, the Judiciary are more concerned with covering this up instead of accepting that Abuse did Happen - people have suffered, it was the Government of that day who were responsible for the care of these children.

By taking the route they have decided to take they have brought disgrace upon your island. It is all too plain for the world to see that Money is more important than Justice.

They may think this will die a death, sadly all they are achieving is igniting more and more flames - it is going to take a long long time for the fire in the abused to been dampened down, all that is happening at the moment is the fire is being fuelled regularly by the gross failures of addressing these serious matters.

Mr AG it is not going to go away, no matter how hard you try, They will take you through the Civil Courts, that is their right. You cannot, you do not have the power to take their rights away, in the same way the numerous kangaroo courts set up by contributors to many blogs, forums etc count for nothing.

You cannot take away their dignity.

Power to you Stuart. The crap spouted by those who choose to undermine you also counts for nothing. I think the majority of people who read your blog and submit comments do indeed support you. The ones who don;t are indeed entitled to their opinion, you allow the freedom of expression but since this is your domain you do indeed have the right to reject obnoxious posters who want more than anything to undermine people, who through no fault of their own have suffered abuse in many forms.

i was having lunch with a very old friend the other day ,and i happened to mention to her ,that i thought it was terrible that the abuse victims dont seem to be getting any justice ,i also said i thought you were a very honourable man ,she looked at me as if i was quite mad ,and said "that syvret guy was crazy

It is important that Stuart be able to maintain this as his OWN BLOG, which he maintains primarily for the sake of seeking justice for abuse survivors. There are numerous other Jersey FORUMS already designated for the purpose of debate between those who speak for the corrupt dictatorship and those who defend the voiceless.

Why would Stuart or his readers wish to read still more nasty pro-oligarchy drivel when the island's press is utterly drowning in it already?

If not for this blog, the international community could believe all the people of Jersey were like B. Riantz and Jon, bizarrely motivated to fume against victims, but quick to protect the rights of those whom solid evidence shows to be child molesters, lying officials, and cover-up artists in order to protect the finance industry.

In the long term, I assure you that it has been only the oligarchy itself shafting the name of Jersey internationally, as no one off island now believes anything your evil officials say. The finance industry will defeat its own purpose if it becomes ever more associated with the protection of paedophiles, which seems likely. You do your industry no favors when you attack the truth seekers, because your motives are so obvious.

Living as I do away from Jersey, I read the online version of the "Jersey Evening Post".

Given that newspaper's editorial outlook I was unsurprised not to see any reportage of the demonstration in the Square. That was to be expected.

But there is not a word about the inauguration of the new Bailiff either.

Could these two be connected in some way?

Is that so? That's a shame, isn't it?

I suppose you'll have to make allowances for the aggression and abuse of those responses. Think on the positive side though - at least if we child abuse survivors are able to get worked up and a bit tetchy, that means we are less likely to get depressed and suicidal.

Another positive, is that, if people are able to feel able to stand up for each other, if they feel that one of their friends is getting unjustly knocked down, it means that the awful abuse they suffered as children has not destroyed them as human beings. That's quite a miracle, when you consider what some of us have been through. I think it's a good thing, don't you?

There is more reasoned debate on this bog than you'll find in the mainstream Jersey media.

Not one of the island's traditional news outlets even contemplate publishing material seriously critical of themselves.

Since when could readers of the JEP have ongoing critical debates with the editor of said journal?

It is true I don't publish all critical comments - for reasons explained many times previously - so I'm not going over it all again.

The one point I'll make is that the ordinary people of Jersey - and those who have tried to represent them, like me - have been trampled, abused, slandered, oppressed, excluded and silenced by the Jersey mainstream media - for decades.

Well - now the boot is on the other foot since the advent of citizen media.

When trying to explain the Jersey system to friends, I googled several old video links to you from early 2008. In one, you were essentially telling the press you had no faith that justice could be served against the child abusers in Jersey under an oligarchy which considered immage above all else.

I can't post the links, but I do think a brief compilation of some of your earliest statements regarding Haut de la Garenne, combined with a few very recent ones, make it quite clear that nearly everything has unfolded EXACTLY as you predicted.

Maybe one of your more tech savy readers can help? The increase in newer readers suggests many may not have known much about this story last year.

Stuart, I do believe in miracles, even if we may have to create our own. This latest outrage can have a silver lining for the abuse survivors and those who care about Jersey's human rights. A concise background story line of this scandal could be helpful to those who can help organise international supporters for a UK political pressure campaign.

Each time the oligarchy vainly attempts to stamp out free speech, the world takes a closer look. Ironic, isn't it, when they thought they could silence you, even arrest you, all to cultivate their reputation as a clean democracy?

Pray, Mr/s Anonymous tell us why? As one of the protestors what I find disappointing is the reluctance of ALL the other States Members to show any shred of interest at all in the corrupt justice system in this Island, and in particular to the victims of child abuse, some of whom formed part of the protest.

Why hide behind the cloak of anonimity? You could have approached any one of us or indeed Senator Syvret himself at the protest and made your feelings known, as indeed did quite a number of people actually supporting and praising the stance taken, and, I may hasten to add NOT all local people, but some who have heard through the national press what is going on here.

Yes, Senator Syvret is elected to represent the whole Island, and that is exactly what he is doing, whereas the majority of the rest do not give a monkeys about anything other than the prestige they think their position brings them.

Be disappointed by all means, but with the right politicians!

Yes you are and bless you for it. When the news came out from HDLG back in 2008 I was feeling quite desperate and lost. I feared for my friends of so long ago and I feared for my sanity as I knew I had to come forward and tell the police what I knew. I had never spoken to anyone about it before - not even my family.

When I found this blog it was like a life raft to cling on to. You gave me the courage to do what I could to support other survivors. You understood how people were feeling and you got alongside.

Disappointed in you? I am disappointed in the rest of the Senators, Deputies and all the clowns in fancy dress today. I know who most onlookers would have respected most.

You do this for us and we truly thank you for what you do - whatever clothes you wear!

He/She probably is still upset that I picked on their grammar a while back. Poor fellow.
If that's what it's about - I didn't realise it would upset you so much. If I upset you over that slight issue then I do apologise.But if you get upset over that, how do you react to big issues?

Was I scared of who I might see? Why yes indeed, Sarah Ferguson in particular isn't nice to look at - even Lenny Henry had the audacity to make fun of her looks I believe when he was at the opera house.

All joking aside, if you're an abuse victim - I'm on your side. If I hurt your feelings beforehand, I apologise.

However,if you're a perpetrator of one of these crimes, or part of the great cover-up - why do you insist on commenting on tiny things that aren't a real problem.

Zoompad, in all reality, being an anonymous on this blog makes them look powerful - because we don't know how many of them there are. There could be one hundred - there could be one. They're not fooling any of us.

I was born and grow uo in Jersey, but moved away some 30 years ago. Many people – of all ages – who have been neglected, abused, assaulted, savagely battered, tortured, raped and sodomised when the were children - in the “care” of the States of Jersey – have found my “behaviour” – and I quote – “absolutely fantastic”, “brilliant”, “courageous”, “principled”, “honest”, “brave” - etc.

“Stuart, you are the first and only States member to listen to us, take us seriously and believe us”.

Perhaps those views, and others like them, which are routinely expressed to me, are minority views. Perhaps most people in Jersey prefer the establishment equation of “politeness” over the truth.

You know what?

I just don’t care.

If that’s turned the voting public against me – well, that’s just tough.

I do give a damn about your cause and was at the Protest on Saturday cheering on everyone who spoke, if I could I would have been there this morning (Next Time perhaps?) making as much noise as I could what a load of Pompous Twats.
