6 questions for Adrian Walsh who we know reads this blog.

1. Why haven't you answered Ole Razzy's repeated emails about the CID/Data Protection check of Planet Jersey?

2. What is happening with the CID/Data Protection check of Planet Jersey?

3. If the check has happened what were the results?

4. Can we have names of the CID/ Data Protection officers to confirm it happened?

5. If the check didn't happen, why not?

6. Why have you failed to update Planet Jersey members about the check?

Until you answer these questions Adrian Walsh you have lost me as a visitor to Planet Jersey. I do not feel comfortable using a website where the owner makes a big noisy shout about calling in the Police to prove the sites safety and then goes dead silent about it after.

I leave this message here merely as a record of fact. It is several weeks since I was asked to particpate in the scrutiny of Planet Jersey's 'back end' and certainly nobody will be re-visiting this thread, however, setting aside the moral rights and wrongs of the issue I would like to say that since agreeing to participate I have heard nothing from the administration of PJ. I will continue to post there, so long as they allow me, as I enjoy reading and contibuting to many different points of view, just as I do on this blog, in the JEP and other local media sources. But I do feel a bit let down by them, I genuinley felt it was worth defending the sites openess to a diversity of ideas but I now I am not so sure why I bothered.

I agree it's not ethical. But if you read what ADMIN on PJ has said no IP addresses nor email accounts will be viewable. The intention is, as I understand it, to show that the operating platform is secure. ADMIN have made it catergorically clear that no data protection officers, CID or selected PJ members will have any access to sensitive and personal information.

I'm not doing this to snoop. I'm doing it to re-assure myself that the system is full proof. I would have more to lose then most if my ID was exposed believe me.

People may not like certain individuals on PJ for their anti Syvret stance but it does allow for alternative views (which I have often expressed) and have done so without heavy handed moderation or threats.

And one more thing. Debumblebee has been banned I found out so we won't be hearing from him for a while. Thank god!

Having made several enquiries today the Owner of the Planet Jersey site is definately walking on a thin line if he forwards information relating to users of the site.

My continuing saga with the BBC complaints department. I've posted the response below that arrived today. Needless to say I will be 'escalating' to level 2 of the procedure, but wont hold my breath as I'm likely to expire.

Now a double page spread in the caring rag explaining why those poor dear investors had to be compensated with £600,000 of our money.
Not only has the rag found it's social concience but so has the Terry the twit and his merry band (aka The C of M).
These people were innocents who were duped by duplicitous blaggards according to Terry. He told stories of old ladies who had been conned into an inapropriate investment vehicle and HAD to be compensated by our tax money.

There's a lot written on this blog about how awful the "oligarchy" are but when the lease for Shell's premises came up locally and people such as Stuart campaigned to get the States to refuse it on moral grounds what was even more horrifying than the unconcern of the "establishment" was the naked and highly unpleasant attitude of the Shell workers at a meeting called to discuss this.

Frankly, they didn't give a damn about Ken Saro-Wiwa and the rest and were loudly and nastily proud of their (at least) amoral position - just as long as their jobs didn't get threatened by even the teensy weensy'est amount. It was disgusting.

Hello folks, just a brief post as I hear a number of you are interested in the Data Protection Act for various reasons. The eight main provisions for keeping and using data are as follows:

The act contains eight “Data Protection Principles”. These specify that personal data must be:

1.Processed fairly and lawfully.

2.Obtained for specified and lawful purposes.

3.Adequate, relevant and not excessive.

4.Accurate and up to date.

5.Not kept any longer than necessary.

6.Processed in accordance with the “data subject’s” (the individual’s) rights.

7.Securely kept.

8.Not transferred to any other country without adequate protection in situ. ( usually this means not outside the EU).

It seems to me that to give out personal IP information to others, along with e-mail addresses,contravenes numbers 1, 7 and 6. If any one would like to find out more then look at http://www.dataprotectionact.org to find out individual rights if the principles are being contravened.

The problem is though, over here if we would like to make a complaint we would need to complain to the appropriate data controller or the data commissioner if needs be - but who is the data commissioner regarding web-pages and the internet?

I'm a bit of a computer nerd myself, but don't really delve in too deep in the land of Law.

My knowledge of computer laws doesn't go further than what I did for an IT exam.

And so, so wrong! Having read your experiences with your child and the education system VFC, I cannot imagine what it must be like to have children in the Jersey system. I am so glad my grandchildren are being educated in the UK - despite the fact that my MP is one of the worst expenses offenders! When I was younger I used to dream of coming back home and raising my family in Jersey. That was before the scales fell from my eyes back in February 2008.

I don't know how you as parents and grandparents can restrain yourselves at the moment with Mario Lundy still in post. You must feel powerless against the old boys and golf chums network.Thank goodness for Stuart's blog and his courage. If I was over there at the moment I am sure I would have been locked up by now!!!
